Panera Puts Your Lunch's Carbon Footprint on the Menu

In 2016, Panera pledged to decrease its carbon emissions 15% by 2022.Panera is on track to meet that goal, and they are updating its menus to help their customers make the same kind of impact. The company announced that it will be labeling its most climate-friendly options as "Cool Food Meals.".More than half of its entrees (including faves like Fuji Apple Chicken Salad and Broccoli Cheddar Soup) already qualify.Panera has worked with the World Resources Institute to determine which of its meal options qualify as low-carbon.Panera is the first national chain to partner with the institute to calculate the carbon footprint of their foods. The science is clear that we're not going to be able to address climate change without changing what we eat. But that doesn't mean that eating for the planet has to be boring, Daniel Vennard, WRI Director of Sustainable Diets
