Parliamentary panel to visit Leh, meet soldiers deployed at forwards posts

Amid the border stand-off with China at the Line of Actual Control (LAC), a parliamentary panel will be visiting Leh in Ladakh later this month. During the two-day visit from October 28, the parliamentary panel will meet soldiers deployed at forward posts for a first-hand assessment of their working conditions, sources in the government told India Today on Tuesday. This comes after a CAG report flagged acute shortage of high-altitude clothing and equipment, including snow goggles, for troops stationed in high-altitude areas in Ladakh. The Parliament's Public Accounts Committee (PAC), which is pursuing the CAG report, will be in Leh to understand the working condition of soldiers.
