In a letter to President Ram Nath Kovind, Shiv Sena Rajya Sabha MP Priyanka Chaturvedi on Saturday sought CRPF security cover for the family of the 19-year-old girl from Boolgarhi in Uttar Pradesh's Hathras. "The victim faced many indignities- in not receiving prompt medical treatment, in the failure of the police to register her complaint on time, and in the forcible midnight cremation against all constitutional values," MP Priyanka Chaturvedi said in her letter.

She went on to add, "Now, her family, which is being held in captivity and threatened by officials in Hathras is being denied their free speech and movement."
