Millions of distressed Indian manufacturers and traders are counting on the eagerly-awaited October-December festive season to rescue them from their coronavirus catastrophe. But spending may be the last thing on the minds of many Indians who have lost their jobs or businesses in the pandemic downturn, and pressure is building for Prime Minister Narendra Modi to do more to regain the momentum of growth that, at 8.2% in 2016-17, made India one of the fastest growing major economies.
कोरोना की वजह से देशभर लगे लॉकडाउन ने अर्थव्यवस्था को पटरी से उतार दिया था। हालात इतने खराब हो गए कि अप्रैल-जून की तीमाही में जीडीपी 23 फीसद से ज्यादा नीचे चली गई। मोदी सरकार के राहत पैकेज और अनलॉक जैसे कदम के साकारात्मक नतीजे भी अब दिखने लगे हैं। सितंबर में जीएसटी संग्रह में जहां बढ़ोतरी हुई है वहीं ऑटो सेक्टर ने भी रफ्तार पकड़ी है। बिजली की खपत बढ़ी तो पेट्रोल की मांग में भी इजाफा हुआ है। वहीं छह महीने की गिरावट के बाद देश का निर्यात सितंबर महीने में सालाना आधार पर 5.27 प्रतिशत बढ़ गया और सितंबर में विनिर्माण पीएमआई साढ़े आठ साल के उच्चस्तर पर पहुंच गया।
