Warmth splinters massive piece of ice away from the Arctic’s largest remaining ice shelf

A huge chunk of ice has broken off the Arctic's largest remaining ice shelf in northeast Greenland. The Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland (GEUS) said on September 14, 2020, that the section that broke away measured about 113 sq km (44 sq mi), or nearly twice the size of Manhattan in New York City.
