The words "Baby Lives Matter" have been scrawled on a portrait of the famous pro-abortion politician Simone Veil in Paris.
The writing was found across Veil's forehead on Rue d'Ulm on near the Pantheon where she is buried.
As French Health Minister, Veil passed a law making contraceptives more widely available in 1974 and then one legalising abortion in 1975.
