China: Record big floods flock to the Three Gorges Dam.
Water from the fifth flood floods into the Three Gorges dam, Hubei province, with a discharge of up to 75,000 cubic meters per second, the largest since the dam was built.

The Changjiang Rive Hydrological Network said the flow into the Three Gorges Dam reservoir peaked at 75,000 cubic meters per second at 8:00 am this morning, causing the water level in the reservoir to reach 161.81 meters.

This is the largest flooding wave Three Gorges Dam has received since the project was built in 2003. Prior to that, the largest flood flow to the Three Gorges Dam reservoir was 71,200 cubic meters per second in 2012.

Record-high floodwaters forced Three Gorges Dam to open 11 discharge outlets with a flow of 49,200 cubic meters per second, exceeding 46,000 cubic meters per second as required by the Changjiang Irrigation Commission.

However, experts note that despite extreme weather conditions, China is well prepared to mitigate the impact of any natural disasters.
