A woman was shocked after finding a 6ft long monitor lizard hiding under her garden table.

Oranong Huailuok, 52, returned home and saw the reptile's huge tail poking out from under the furniture in Krabi province, Thailand on August 18.

The terrified woman said the animal rampaged into her place and then hid under the marble chairs in an extension being built

Oranong immediately called the animal rescuers for help as she did not know what to do with the reptile blocking the entrance to her house.

She said: "It was the biggest lizard that my child and I have ever seen. We were afraid that it would harm our family."

The animal team arrived and caught the aggressive lizard after 10 minutes. Its mouth was wrapped while its arms and legs were tied by a rope for safety.

One of the volunteers said: "The animal was quite fierce, it was trying to attack us. Good thing the house owner called and did not try to catch the lizard by herself."

The monitor lizard was later taken out of the house and carried into the rescuers' truck before it was released back into the jungle.
