HOW TO CALCULATE OXIDATION NUMBER PART-III || CLASS 11
  • 4 years ago
In this video I have shown how to calculate oxidation number of different elements present in a compound using the rules which were discussed in my previous lecture. I gave examples of determination of oxidation numbers of different elements like chlorine, chromium, nitrogen, iron, sulphur in various compounds such as KClO4, K2Cr2O7, NH4NO3, Ca(OCl)Cl, Fe(CO)5, CrO5, H2SO5, Na2S4O6 respectively. There are some critical cases in which calculation of oxidation number of the target element is very tricky because the process is not followed by conventional rules. This video will also give an idea about the relation between oxidation state and oxidation number. I hope this video will help the students to solve the questions on redox reaction in different competitive examinations like NEET, JEE (Mains & Advanced) etc.
