Protesters throw projectiles at Chicago cops protecting a Christopher Columbus monument from being toppled. Chicago Police Department Superintendent David O'Neal Brown, 59, said: “We cannot be a city that thinks mob action of a crowd is acceptable behaviour.” The footage was posted on Facebook by the Chicago Police Department to “show the organised mob violence that infiltrated the protest at Grant Park on Friday, July 17, 2020”. In the video, a large crowd is seen marching across the park as one man changes into all-black clothing to join others dressed the same. Protesters use umbrellas and placards to form a shield as others throw water bottles and projectiles overhead to where the cops are situated at the Christopher Columbus Monument.
