UBUNTU: How CORNBREAD & DOC RIVERS Will to Reunite the CELTICS Big Three
  • 4 years ago
Doc Rivers remembered the origin of ubuntu with CLNS Media's Cedric Maxwell podcast. A board member at Marquette University approached him after a trip to South Africa, telling him to look up the term that would perfectly suit his 2007-08 Celtics. Doc stayed up all night researching the philosophy, which in groups holds that an individual cannot be all they can be without the others around them raising their level too. For the Celtics, each teammate's success would depend on the others. Rivers explained coaching Paul Pierce to eventually accept this ideology, the challenges of Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett and more with Max.
