After the Centre rejected the Punjab government’s request to open liquor shops in the state during the coronavirus lockdown, state Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has questioned the logic behind closing outlets which sell alcohol. Speaking to a news channel, the Punjab Chief Minister questioned the connection between the spread of the novel coronavirus and sale of liquor. He further asked why was the sale of vegetables allowed if there was a fear of the spread of COVID-19 infection.
पंजाब के मुख्यमंत्री कैप्टन अमरिंदर सिंह ने कहा कि समझ से परे है कि कोरोना का शराब से कनेक्शन क्या है। एक इंटरव्यू में उन्होंने कहा, अगर शराब बेचने से COVID-19 का संक्रमण फैसने का अंदेशा है तो संब्जियों की बिक्री की अनुमति क्यों दी गई? उन्होंने कहा कि केंद्र ने सब्जियों-फलों आदि की बिक्री की छूट तो दी है लेकिन जो सीलबंद बोतलें हैं, जिन पर थूक का कोई असर नहीं हो सकता, उसकी बिक्री की अनुमति नहीं है।
