वो साल 1999 का था. 9 साल के बाद पाकिस्तान की टीम भारत खेलने आई थी. 28 जनवरी से मुकाबला था. और पाकिस्तान टीम के कप्तान थे वसीम अकरम. लंबे इन्तजार के बाद जब दोनों टीमें भारत में भिड़ी. तो किसी को नहीं पता था कि ये मैच हमेशा के लिए स्वर्णिम अक्षरों में लिखा जाएगा. पाकिस्तान के कप्तान वसीम अकरम ने टॉस जीतकर पहले बल्लेबाजी करने का फैसला किया. विकेटकीपर मोईन खान के 60 और मोहम्मद यूसुफ के 53 रनों की पारी की बदौलत पाकिस्तान पहली पारी में 238 रन ही बना सका. उधर, भारत की ओर से अनिल कुंबले ने सबसे अधिक 6 जबकि जवागल श्रीनाथ ने 3 पाकिस्तानी बल्लेबाजों को पवेलियन भेजा. सचिन भी एक विकेट लेने में कामयाब रहे थे.
