Despite seeing COVID-19 outbreaks on cruises, bookings for cruises are rising in 2021. CruiseCompete.com saw a 40 percent increase in its 2021 cruise bookings compared to 2019. An analysis from Swiss bank UBS saw the number of cruise bookings in the past 30 days up by 9 percent compared to the same period in 2020. UBS also reported that 76 percent of people canceling 2020 trips took credit toward a future cruise rather than a refund. According to Business Insider, this information is positive news for cruise lines who took a financial hit during the outbreak.
