Pompeo warns Iran against being a 'spoiler' as US heads towards historic deal with Taliban. United States Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Friday warned Iran against being a 'spoiler' in Afghanistan as the US and the Afghan Taliban gear up to sign a historic peace deal that could possibly see an end to the 19-year-war in the country.
Pompeo confirmed that a one-week partial truce was holding with the Taliban, who are scheduled to sign the landmark accord with the United States in Qatar on Saturday.
