A belief about Hinduism has been going on for centuries, most of the culture associated with this religion has developed on the banks of sacred rivers. Magh Mela started in this sequence. Starting from the full moon of Paush Maash, the Magh Mela will run on January 10 this year i.e. from today till February 21 Mahashivratri. This grand and huge fair is organized every year on the banks of the Sangam in Prayagraj. During the Magh Mela, devotees stay for a few days while following Brahmacharya on the Sangam coast. In terms of faith, it is called 'Kalpavas'. On this auspicious occasion, the process of gathering of devotees starts on the banks of Sangam from Pausha Purnima. Which lasts from the month of Magh to Mahashivaratri. According to beliefs, the mokshadayini Maa Ganga's bath in the month of Magha is considered special and auspicious. In the month of Magha, there are special dates related to bathing. The details of which are as follows.

हिंदू धर्म को लेकर एक मान्‍यता सदियों से चली आ रही है इस धर्म से जुड़ी अधिकांश संस्‍कृति पवित्र नदियों के तट पर विकसित हुई है। इसी क्रम में माघ मेले की शुरुआत हुई। पौष माष की पूर्णिमा से शुरू होकर माघ मेला इस साल 10 जनवरी यानी आज से लेकर 21 फरवरी महाशिवरात्रि तक चलेगा। इस भव्‍य और विशाल मेले का आयोजन हर साल प्रयागराज में संगम के तट पर होता है।माघ मेले के दौरान संगम तट पर ब्रह्मचर्य का पालन करते हुए श्रद्धालु कुछ दिनों के लिए वास करते हैं। आस्‍था की दृष्टि से इसे ‘कल्‍पवास’ कहा जाता है। इस शुभ अवसर पर पौष पूर्णिमा से ही संगम के तट पर श्रद्धालुओं के जुटने का सिलसिला आरंभ हो जाता है। जो कि पूरे माघ माह से लेकर महाशिवरात्रि तक चलता है। मान्‍यताओं के अनुसार माघ के महीने में मोक्षदायिनी मां गंगा का स्‍नान विशेष और शुभफलदायी माना जाता है। माघ के महीने में स्‍नान को लेकर कुछ विशेष तिथियां होती हैं। जिनका विवरण निम्‍न है।
