Gabriel Jesus scored a 20-minute hat-trick in the win to end the Croatian team’s chances of advancing to the Champions League’s knockout stage on Wednesday.
After going behind in the 10th minute to Dani Olmo's volley, City responded with goals from Jesus in the 34th, 50th and 54th minutes, with Ben Foden adding a fourth six minutes from time.
City had already qualified for the last 16 as Group C winners.
