Hello, today I want to answer the question is affiliate marketing a saturated field where I learn no real valuable skills. Would I be better off learning to code?
This is a great question.
My grandfather thinks I should learn how to code as well. Marketing and coding are completely opposite fields that take completely different people.
The short answer is you should be self-aware to discover which is a better fit for who you are. Coding is building the cars. Marketing is selling the cars. You really need both.
This goes back to the same argument that salespeople are scum of the universe and some people think there is no value to it.
I prefer the term marketing because the term sales I picture a pushy salesman. A pushy salesman is someone who keeps pushing something when someone is not interested and is clearly annoying.
A marketer presence something and if there is 0 interest moves to someone else. If there is interest then helps the person get what they want.
It's more of a pulling thing rather than a pushing thing. What do you think?
Marketing is dealing with people coding is engineering. Do you like engineering and don't like to talk to people? If so, coding might be better?
Are you more extroverted or introverted? If you are more introverted then coding might be a better fit.
What does affiliate marketing entail? It involves talking to as many people as you can promoting a website. This website then promotes various products in a niche and if someone buys a product you get paid. That is it in a nutshell.
It does help to be more extroverted because you have to talk to lots of people. Whether it's through video, audio, the written word or in person, over the phone you just have to talk to lots of people. You also have to get rejected a lot, so you do have to swallow your pride and ego.
Most people don't want to do marketing because they are worried about the judgment from other people.
Let's talk about whether affiliate marketing is saturated or not. Affiliate marketing is not saturated and will never be saturated.
The reason it will never be saturated is because let's say the internet was taken down tomorrow. People would freak out and the world would be like it was in the 1980's or 1990's. Some people would prefer it that way. Would you prefer the world the way it was before the internet?
You could still do affiliate marketing it would just move to the telephone. If the telephone was removed it would move to door knocking or cave drawings.
The only way to get ride of marketing is to get rid of people. The internet will change and will always change and marketing will change with it.
