The monetary policy committee of the RBI in a surprise decision today kept its repo rate steady at 5.15% despite revising its GDP growth forecast for this fiscal downwards. The monetary policy committee however acknowledged that there is space for monetary policy action in the future, while maintaining an accommodative stance.
