Rescue workers in east India trying to subdue a leopard were nearly mauled by the vicious predator, with one injured, in this amazing video.

The leopard was spotted in the village of Rangdhamali, Jalpaiguri district, West Bengal on December 1, with villagers reporting it as soon as it was sighted.

Forest workers of the Belaqaba Range reach the spot after a long effort, were able to capture the leopard in the forest.

Footage shows the leopard having been tangled in a catcher from one of the vehicles, and the rangers beginning to get out of the jeep when the leopard rears up and attacks the door.

In the rescue operation forest ranger Sanjay Dutt was wounded, but the leopard was successfully rescued and later released into the jungle farther away from inhabited areas.
