After coming under siege during violent clashes between radical protesters and police, Hong Kong’s Polytechnic University has remained in a stand-off for six days as officers await the surrender of diehard demonstrators. While most protesters who occupied the campus have been arrested, evacuated by ambulance crews, or managed to escape, the few who remain inside face increasingly difficult conditions in battered buildings that bear the scars of their occupation.
