Massachusetts Set to Pass
Groundbreaking Vaping and Tobacco Bill.
Under the legislation, the sale of
flavored vaping products would be
prohibited starting in June next year.
Menthol cigarettes would
also be included the ban.
It would make Massachusetts the first state in the nation to prohibit the sale of all flavored tobacco products, Campaign for Tobacco Free Kids president
Matthew Myers, via Associated Press.
Besides the sales ban, vaping items
will see a 75 percent excise tax.
Currently, the legislation has passed Massachusetts' House and Senate.
It comes as illnesses and deaths related
to vaping continue to rise in the U.S.
To become official, the bill needs the signature of GOP Governor Charlie Baker.
Just a couple months ago,
Baker temporarily banned
vaping items from being sold.
He also issued a
public health emergency
in Massachusetts
