Alaskan Government Passes
Groundbreaking Marijuana Legislation The new law allows people to use the drug in
public smoking areas at dispensaries. Alaska is the first state in the U.S.
to pass this kind of measure. Starting next month, dispensaries can
apply for a license to build their spots. In other states, similar laws
allow people to smoke within city limits. Areas like San Francisco
condone on-site use of pot. But the ability to smoke throughout
all of California is not legal. Alaska Marijuana Industry Association, via AP The marijuana industry in Alaska says the
public areas won't develop until later in 2019.
