Apple Reportedly
Developing iPhone
Subscription Plan.
Investors and consumers alike have hoped for
an Apple hardware subscription plan for years.
Such a subscription plan would hypothetically
bundle hardware upgrades (such as the iPhone)
with services, like Apple TV+, for a monthly fee.
On Wednesday, analyst Toni Sacconaghi
asked about the possibility of a hardware
subscription plan during an earnings call.
Apple CEO Tim Cook implied that
a plan was already in the works.
In terms of hardware as a service or as a bundle, if you will, there are customers today that essentially view the hardware like that because they’re on upgrade plans and so forth, so to some degree that exists today, Apple CEO Tim Cook, via CNBC.
My perspective is that will grow in the future to larger numbers. It will grow disproportionately, Apple CEO Tim Cook, via CNBC.
With trade-in plans and the option to pay for iPhones
on a monthly basis instead of full price up front.
it seems that Apple has been laying the groundwork
for such a move for the past few years.
We’re cognizant that there are lots of users out there that want a sort of a recurring payment like that and the receipt of new products on some sort of standard kind of basis, and we’re committed to make that easier to do than perhaps it is today, Apple CEO Tim Cook, via CNBC
