Sujith Wilson's Death A Depressing Reminder of Decades of Borewell Tragedies

Over 80 hours of rescue efforts and prayers later, two-year-old Sujith Wilson, who was stuck in a borewell in Tamil Nadu, was found dead in the wee hours of Tuesday. Sujith Wilson isn’t the first child who died in a borewell. Several such incidents could have been avoided if the Panchayat officials had done routine inspections, the public reported to the civic authorities, and if we had a proper life-saving technology.
