Local elections were held in Indian-controlled Kashmir on Thursday (October 24) amid tight security, with the Congress, National Conference and the PDP boycotting the first electoral exercise after abrogation of the state's special status.

Footage filmed in Baramulla shows residents queuing at polling stations.

Polls closed at 1pm and results are expected later on Thursday.
