Matt Lauer Rape Allegation
Revealed in Ronan Farrow's New Book.
As alleged in Farrow's book,
'Catch and Kill,' the alleged rape
occurred in Matt Lauer's hotel
room during the 2014 Sochi Olympics.
After a night of drinks, former
NBC News employees Brooke Nevils
claims she was forced to engage in a
sexual act for which she did not give consent.
Back in New York, the
two had other sexual encounters.
This is what I blame myself most for. It was completely transactional. It was not
a relationship, Brooke Nevils, 'Catch and Kill,' via CBS News.
Nevils went to NBC's human
resources department and
reported the incidents.
She later learned that both the
NBC News president and chairman
were characterizing what had happened
to her as neither criminal nor an assault.
NBC News responded to
the new allegations against Lauer.
Matt Lauer's conduct was appalling, horrific and reprehensible, as we said at the time. That's why he was fired within 24 hours of us first learning of the complaint. Our hearts break again for our colleague, NBC News, Statement, via CBS News.
On air Wednesday morning, 'Today'
co-host Savannah Guthrie described
the news as "just very painful for all of us at NBC.".
I feel like we owe it to our viewers to pause for a moment, you know, this is shocking and appalling. I honestly don’t even know what to say about it, Savannah Guthrie, 'Today' Co-host, via Fox News
