Hong Kong Jockey Club cancels Happy Valley horse race meeting over threat from anti-government protesters

The Hong Kong Jockey Club cancelled the Happy Valley race meeting scheduled on September 18, 2019, because of fears that anti-government protesters could compromise the safety of staff, customers and horses.  One of the horses scheduled to race is co-owned by lawmaker Junius Ho Kwan-yiu.  The controversial Beijing loyalist was thrust into the spotlight when he publicly defended and appeared shaking hands with white-clad men who indiscriminately attacked civilians in Yuen Long in July.
