In a bid to create awareness regarding traffic rules and regulations and inspire people to follow them,Rajkot Traffic police came up with a unique idea.They deployed two police officers dressed up as Lord Ganesha to spread awareness. The Policemen offered sweets and a commendation certificate to two-wheeler riders wearing helmets. The traffic police have taken the initiative in collaboration with a Trust named, "Bolbala".The amended Motor Vehicles Act has enhanced the penalties for driving errors and many people have been challaned with hefty fines when found violating traffic rules. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways had notified the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Amendment Act 2019 last month and it was implemented across India from September 1.
