Mark Sanford announced a Republican challenge to President Trump.

Former South Carolina governor Mark Sanford has announced he is challenging President Trump for the 2020 GOP nomination.
Sanford made the declaration on "Fox News Sunday" after host Chris Wallace said to him: "You announced in July that you are considering running for president in the Republican primaries against President Trump. You visited early voting states like New Hampshire and Iowa. Have you made a decision. Are you going to enter the race against Donald Trump?"
"I'm here to tell you now that I am going to get in," Sanford answered.
According to the New York Times, Sanford had supported Trump in the 2016 election, but he became a vocal critic in the months after Trump became president.
The Times notes: "He aims to campaign as a fiscal conservative intent on ending what he views as the country's profligate spending spree."
