Nets take Game 1 vs. Raptors

MANILA, Philippines – The Brooklyn Nets took Game 1 of their playoff series against the Toronto Raptors, 94-87. Brooklyn used stifling defense to hold the usually high-scoring Raptors to only 39% from the field Brooklyn’s backcourt duo of Joe Johnson and Deron Williams also played big during the game, scoring a combined 48 points. But it was plays from Brooklyn’s veterans late in the game – led by Paul Pierce’s nine-point outburst – that sealed the Nets’ victory. Pierce finished with 15 points. -- News Now, ANC, April 20, 2014.
