The Department of Energy (DOE) has rejected calls to bar Meralco from collecting any increase for its December and January bills. Energy Sec. Jericho Petilla said even without the electricity spot market, where "market failure" supposedly took place, electricity prices were still more expensive than in previous months because some of Meralco's suppliers all used liquid fuel, which is more expensive than natural gas. -- ANC News Now, March 12, 2014
