MANILA - The Commission on Elections is preparing to submit its compliance report to the Department of the Interior and Local Government on the government officials who have submitted or have yet to submit their statement of contributions and expenditures (SOCEs). Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez said more lawmakers are submitting their SOCEs, adding they are also keeping an eye on more than 15 local government officials who have yet to do so. House Speaker Sonny Belmonte said 13 out of the 20 congressmen who allegedly failed to file a valid SOCEs have complied with the requirement. Seven of them paid a fine of 8,000 pesos each. Last week, the Comelec told more than 420 elected officials to step down until they file their SOCEs. The poll body has asked the DILG to enforce the order.
