Napoles to Guingona: What do you mean kilala?

MANILA - Alleged pork scam mastermind Janet Lim Napoles on Thursday denied knowing any of the senators being linked to the alleged scam. During the hearing, Napoles denied knowing Atty. Richard Cambe, Ruby Tuason, Pauline Labayen or any of the alleged representatives of lawmakers who allegedly received kickbacks from her office. At one point, Senate Blue Ribbon Committee head Teofisto Guingona III asked Napoles: "Sino ang iyong kilala?" Napoles then answered: "What do you mean kilala? Personal na kilala o ano? Her response drew a loud reaction during the hearing, prompting Napoles to apologize to the senator. She said: "Lahat ng mga senador kilala ko dahil binoboto natin sila pero hindi nila ako kilala." Napoles also denied knowing officials of implementing agencies who received kicbacks in her office. She said the only lawmaker who has visited her office is former Congressman Edgar Valdez of APEC Party-list. She said Valdez usually talks to her husband. Whistle-blower Benhur Luy, meanwhile, named some of the heads of implementing agencies who received kickbacks from JLN. He said he also has a list of account numbers of lawmakers who received kickbacks. He said the kickbacks were sometimes given in cash, check or via wire transfer. He said he personally delivered cash to the houses of Tuason, Labayen and former Congressman Rodolfo Plaza of the lone district of Agusan del Sur. ANC, November 7, 2013
