MANILA -- The 45-day gun ban for the October 28 barangay elections will start at midnight tonight. Philippine National Police (PNP) spokesperson Sr. Supt. Reuben Sindac said gun owners must refrain from bringing their firearms and other weapons outside their homes. The gun ban will be in effect until November 12. The police will begin to set up checkpoints tonight. Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez said Comelec chairman Sixto Brillantes will be inspecting the checkpoints.
