Mayweather routs Alvarez, remains unbeaten

MANILA, Philippines – Floyd Mayweather Jr. continued his unbeaten streak after thoroughly dominating Mexican boxer Saul “Canelo” Alvarez in their highly anticipated super fight at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. Mayweather, using his exceptional speed and jab, controlled all 12 rounds while rendering Alvarez in effective through his famed shoulder roll defense. Mayweather took the Mexican’s WBA and WBC super welterweight titles. Despite this, one judge surprisingly scored the bout a 114-114 draw. Two other judges scored it 116-112 and 117-111. With the win, Mayweather improved his record to 45-0, and earned more than $41 million for the night’s work.
