Zamboanga mayor calls on OPAPP to help end crisis

MANILA -- Zamboanga City Mayor Beng Climaco is calling on the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP) to step in and help end the standoff between the Nur Misuari-led faction of Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) and government security forces. Climaco said even help from the United Nations may be necessary. Thousands of residents have been displaced by the fighting in Zamboanga City. Social Welfare Secretary Dinky Soliman has been sent by President Aquino to help in the relief operations. ANC Top Story, September 11, 2013
