PNoy wants to keep PDAF despite scam

MANILA - President Aquino reiterated Monday that he does not favor proposals to abolish the pork barrel system. The President said the pork barrel has its good uses as it allows local concerns otherwise unknown to the national government to be addressed. He recalled that he did not want to use his priority development assistance fund (PDAF) allocation when he was still congressman but later realized that the pork barrel can be put to good use. He said his PDAF was used to repair a flood-prone portion of the MacArthur Highway in Tarlac. Meanwhile, Aquino said he expects the Justice Department to file two to three cases anytime soon in connection with the misuse of pork barrel funds.
