Thousands of monkeys invade Myanmar temple to shelter from rain

Thousands of monkeys invaded a Buddhist temple in Myanmar on Saturday because they wanted to shelter from the rain.

While monkeys regularly live around the Buddhist temple at Mount Popa in Myanmar, during the heavy monsoon season they seek shelter inside, according to filmer Nicholas Warner.

Warner said that the entire floor of the temple became covered in monkey pee and "occasional piles of monkey poop."

"Unfortunately for us, rules forbid you from wearing shoes or socks on the way up those 777 temple steps," Warner said.
