Droughts, hydroelectric dams deplete Mekong River despite arrival of rainy season

Water levels in the Mekong River have reached critical lows due to a lack of  rain and too many dams upstream. It has affected the agriculture and fishing industries in Cambodia, Thailand and Vietnam. China and Laos have promised to release more water from their dams along the largest river in Southeast Asia.
