Panama became the first Central American country to ban single-use plastic bags. According to the Huffington Post the ban hopes to curb pollution on its beaches. Sixty other countries all over the world have completely or partially banned single-use plastic bags. Some have introduced taxes to convince people to not use them, such as Chile and Colombia. While fined will be applied for non-compliance there are some exceptions, such as with raw food.
