A Hurricane Could Hit the
US Gulf Coast This Weekend A current system near the
Florida Panhandle is
expected to soon turn into
Tropical Storm Barry. Barry would be the
second storm on record
this year once the
Atlantic hurricane season began. According to the National Hurricane Center, Barry could upgrade to hurricane status this Saturday. National Weather Service, via Facebook Possible flooding and strong winds have led Louisiana's government to declare a state of emergency. The NHS adds that heavy rainfall is expected in multiple areas regardless of the storm's intensity. Affected spots include most of Louisiana, the Florida Panhandle and the Lower Mississippi Valley.
