Taiwan holds Asia’s first legal gay weddings
  • 5 years ago
After passing historic amendments to laws, Taiwan registered the first same-sex marriages in Asia on May 24, 2019. The registrations of hundreds of unions came one week after a 30-year fight for equality ended with Taiwan finally legalising gay marriage. Gay and lesbian couples still face restrictions over issues such as adoption, surrogacy and marrying foreigners.
