Talk about a sweet idea! Great for topping baked goods, mixing into iced tea or rimming the edge of a cocktail glass, these homemade sugars are super-cute addition to your DIY gift list. Package them in airtight glass containers from your local craft store — or raid your Mason jar and ribbon stash for a mix-and-match touch.

1. Sugar 'n' Spice
In medium bowl, whisk 1 cup sugar with 1 1/2 tablespoons ground cinnamon, 1/2 teaspoons ground ginger, and 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg until well blended. Transfer to airtight 8-ounce container. Keep at room temperature up to 6 months.

Then, enjoy it:

Sprinkled over the top of apple pie crust before baking
Dusted over the tops of sugar cookies before baking
Mixed into for hot mulled cider
Mixed into spiced wine
Sprinkled over your morning oatmeal
2. Vanilla Sugar
With tip of paring knife, cut 1 vanilla pod in half lengthwise. Using side of knife, scrape out seeds; transfer to food processor bowl, along with 1 cup sugar. Pulse until well combined. Transfer to airtight 8-ounce container, along with scraped vanilla pod halves. Keep at room temperature up to 6 months.

Then, enjoy it:

When making French toast
In your Chantilly cream (a.k.a. vanilla whipped cream)
To make fruit compote
Sprinkled over fresh berries
3. Citrus Sugar
Grate peel of 2 limes, 1 orange, and 1 lemon; transfer peels to food processor bowl, along with 1/2 cup sugar. Pulse until well combined. Transfer sugar mixture to medium bowl; whisk in another 1/2 cup sugar until well blended. Spread on jelly-roll pan or large platter. Let stand at room temperature 1 hour. Transfer to airtight 8-ounce container. Keep in refrigerator up to 1 month.

Then, enjoy it:

Mixed into tea (hot or iced)
Added to homemade lemonade
With cocktails (margaritas, sangria, mojitos, pina colada, Tom Collins) — either mixed in, or rimming the glass
In fruit smoothies
To make fruit compote
