US Aircraft Carrier
Deployed to Middle East in
Response to Iranian 'Threat' On Sunday night,
the White House announced
the USS Abraham Lincoln had
been deployed to the region. Accompanying the Lincoln
is a bomber task force. The U.S. action comes in
response to unspecified
"clear indications" that Iran was
planning an attack on U.S. forces. National Security Advisor
John Bolton states the deployment
is "to send a clear and unmistakable
message to the Iranian regime ..." "... that any attack on
United States interests or
on those of our allies will
be met with unrelenting force." John Bolton, NSA,
via ABC News Secretary of State Mike Pompeo
stated that the U.S. will respond
to "any actions" Iran or "related
third-party proxies ... may take." The USS Abraham Lincoln
was in the Mediterranean
after leaving Norfolk, VA on April 1.
