Residents bath in river stream amid nationwide blackouts in stricken Venezuela

Venezuelans continue to struggle with water shortages following a series power blackouts across the country.

Footage shows families bathing and collecting water from a river stream in El Avila National Park, near Caracas yesterday (March 31).

A 5 litre bottle costs $2 at a supermarket in Caracas, what makes it unaffordable for low-income Venezuelans earning the monthly minimum wage, which is around $6 each month.

Meanwhile, President Nicolas Maduro blames the water shortages on a long drought and accuses his opponents for the blackouts.
