Civic sanitation workers go on strike in Delhi

Sanitation workers of East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) went on a strike on Saturday to protest against the non-payment of salaries and in support of their demand for permanent jobs.
They protested outside Shahadra (south) zone office of EDMC and dumped garbage on the streets.
"The Delhi government is not releasing funds for salaries. They have money for advertisement, to pay their employees but they do not have money for the poor safai karamcharis. They should avoid this kind of politics," said Delhi BJP president Satish Upadhyay.
