Hours before the Supreme Court dismissed his petition challenging death warrant, Yakub Memon filed fresh mercy plea with President Pranab Mukherjee. The final hurdle before the execution of 1993 bomb blast convict Yakub Memon is the mercy petition pending before the President. According to reports, the Rashtrapathi Bhavan has sent the mercy petition to Ministry of Home Affairs for seeking the Cabinet’s advice on the matter. If the President rejects Yakub Memon’s mercy plea, the lone death convict of 1993 blasts case will be hanged on July 30.
