Successive Governments in India have not become wiser after Chou En-lai made a fool of Pandit Nehru. The Chinese believe in shameless pursuit of national interest, currently a camouflage for "world dominion". Logically our policy should be the pursuit of alliances with secular democracies of the world. We cannot forget the Chinese aggression in 1962 and our abysmal and humiliating defeat, in which we lost 93,000 sq. miles of Indian territory. Both Houses of Parliament passed unanimous resolutions accusing China of perfidy and affirming our resolve to drive out the aggressor however long the struggle may be. Pandit Nehru died a broken man, his credibility badly exposed and his non alignment in shambles.
