BJP leader Meenakshi lekhi, who is conesting from New Delhi constituency, hit out at District Magistrate of Varanasi for denying permission to Modi's rally. Lekhi said that none of the top UP police officers expressed security concern on BJP's PM candidate's rally. "Rahulji can hold 50 rallies but giving him permission and denying us is wrong," the BJP leader asserted.

BJP leader Arun Jaitley renewed his attack on the Election Commission saying that howcome Rahul was given the permission to hold a roadshow in the same are where Narendra Modi was denied. He alleged political motive behind not letting Modi holding a rally in Varansi.

"Why was the Rahul roadshow permitted when Modi was denied permission (to hold a rally in) the same area?" Jaitley said, referring to Beniya Bagh. He attributed it to "political motive".
